Hokusai Developer Documentation
Add Hokusai model routing to the coding agent, harness, or application you already use. Hokusai recommends a model from the candidate pool you provide; your system still executes the task and owns prompts, tools, tests, and the final result.
Start Here
The shortest path to a working route is:
- Choose your integration.
- Create a Hokusai API key.
- Install the plugin or SDK for your environment.
- Verify the connection and route one task.
You are integrated when your first request returns a recommended model. Outcome contribution is optional and can be enabled afterward.
Choose the environment you already use
- AI coding agent — Claude Code or Codex
- Multi-agent harness — OpenHands, Aider, LiteLLM, Wavemill, or a custom harness
- Custom application — TypeScript, Python, Go, Java, or REST
- Quickstart — curl or the browser-based API guide

Protocol and Rewards
Routing decisions generate usage fees. Outcome data can improve future routing quality. Contributors who create measurable routing improvements can receive rewards tied to verified performance lift.
